Our Day
At Lesley's all food and drink are provided with the exception of formula milk and any special dietary food (eg. gluten free bread.) I will endeavour to work with parents to meet dietary requirements, just tell me what your child needs. Fussy eaters are always encouraged to have at least have a try at different foods.
Sample Menu
Breakfast
Toast and a healthy topping such as banana, cheese or beans or a choice of healthy cereal such as porridge with fruit with a choice of fruit juice, water or milk to drink.
Snacks
Choice of fruit and /or toast, crumpets, fruit bread with a drink. If we have done a baking activity, or when we attend toddler group, a snack may be a biscuit or cake. I often include children in the preparation of snacks and in the Summer, fruit ice lollies are always very popular.
Lunch
Sandwiches (cheese, turkey/chicken, tuna, jam), carrot sticks, tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, cheese. Beans or cheese on toast. Jacket potatoes/ homemade soup with crusty bread. Simple pasta meals are always popular too. For dessert, I usually offer Fruit or yoghurt.
Tea
Simple home made pasta, rice dishes, or a baked potato with fish, chicken, cheese or meat and fresh vegetables to accompany them.
Food for weaning and babies:
I am of the opinion that fresh food pureed appropriately is better than packets and jars of baby food so I am happy to prepare meals suitable for weaning children and babies but will re-heat food provided by parents if preferred.
Drinks
There will be fresh drinking water available at all times. I will also offer milk.
Special occasions
We celebrate special days throughout the year such as Pancake Day with pancakes; Easter, with our much loved Easter Egg hunts, and of course all of the children’s own birthdays' with a Birthday Cake and a party on the actual day, or the nearest week-day to it.
