All Early Years providers must follow the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS statutory framework.
The EYFS states ‘Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met, and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them…Providers must take all necessary steps to keep children safe and well’.
As a childminder, I have a duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and I am committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and requirements.
My safeguarding policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children: have a positive and enjoyable experience within my setting. Lesley Wright Childcare Service provides a safe and child centred environment.
I promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. I value, listen to and respect children and ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation.
I have a safeguarding policy that all parents must read and sign to say they understand before any child can be placed in my care.
